Jordinvest the silver sponsor of the Third Annual Harvard Arab Alumni Conference
Jordinvest partners The Harvard Arab Alumni Association in promoting a contemporary Arab image.
Amman, May, 2008 – Stemming from its unwavering belief in the importance of the distinguished alumni’s role in the development process, Jordan Investment Trust (Jordinvest), a leading provider of integrated investment and financial services locally and regionally, announced its participation as a silver sponsor at the Third Annual Harvard Arab Alumni Conference which took place in Amman on the 24th of May 2008, under the patronage of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah. The conference was organized by The Harvard Arab Alumni Association (HAAA) , with a main focus this year on “Promoting a Contemporary Arab Image".
The conference addressed a number of key issues that are placed at the top of the list of priorities of the Arab community. These include steps that have been taken in order to change the image of the Arab world, by tackling the financial sector, which has become one of the most influential sectors in the development process. In addition. the conference’s panels also focused on the private sector’s role in the economic progress, civic engagement with the growing interest in it, having Jordan as a showcase for both social responsibility and art in the Middle East.
Jordinvest bolstered its contribution through the participation of Mr. Ahmad Tantash, Jordinvest's Chairman and CEO, who took part in the first panel of the conference that was titled “Entering the World Stage: The global integration of MENA’s finance industry”; the panel focused on the evolving role of MENA's finance industry as it plays financier and strategic investor to global institutions in addition to the challenges and opportunities of investing outside of MENA, the hot investment thesis, the evolution and internationalization in the sector, in addition to discussing the sophisticated trading strategies.
Commenting on Jordinvest’s sponsorship of this event, Mr. Tantash said: “Our participation in this prominent event comes in line with our vision to raise awareness especially for youth, in regards to the financial and economic sectors and its impact on regional and international development process, given the rapid growth we are experiencing in many sectors, notably the financial and banking sector”. He added: “This gives us a motivation to put all our efforts together in order to have a thriving future, where we achieve our goals and offer innovative, comprehensive services in Jordan and the region as well.”
This event offered a chance for the alumni of one of the most leading universities in the world to connect with a number of experts and successful Arab names, providing a platform to exchange ideas and build on the success of previous events. On this occasion, The Harvard Arab Alumni Association (HAAA), as organizers of this event, expressed the importance of holding this year’s event in Jordan, explaining that selecting Jordan stems from its rich history and culture, especially after selecting Petra as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
